Cat Rotation #2, God Sent Special Things, Part 1

So, remember the Cat Rotation I completely and utterly failed to stick to? I did an initial article on all three, but I never really gave an update on them afterwards. Mainly because I hadn’t stitched on them at all. Well I did do a little on my favorite of the three pieces, God Sent Special Things, that I thought I’d share with you all!

Here is where I got to during the actual rotation:

Friday Finishes #21: Met My Dad?

I had a hard time deciding whether or not to make this a Friday Finishes or a Salvaged Stash article… I technically finished it but 95% of the work wasn’t mine. This was a UFO started by my mother before I was even born and she was only fifty or so stitches away from finishing it… so I finished it for her and then framed it myself. So I guess it’s both a Friday Finishes AND a Salvaged Stash. I might end up doing another article for it as a Salvaged Stash piece, but for now I’ll just stick with Friday Finishes!

Name of Piece: Great Dane – I’ve always called it “Met My Dad.”

Designed by: Mary Ellen Yanich for Canterbury Designs

This chart was distributed in Book 71 of Canterbury Designs: Man’s Best Friend, Collection One. The booklet is copyrighted 1990. Here is a picture in case you want to look for the booklet yourself:

The booklet with the chart I stitched.

Kit Contains: This was a chart and not a kit. (You can tell I didn’t originally start this based on that alone!) As far as I can tell my mom stitched this on 14 ct. Beige Aida (like the instructions said).

Finished Size:  Roughly 10 in. by 10 in. is my guess. (The chart itself doesn’t say.)

How To: Make An Ort Jar

OrtJarsAn ORT Jar is one of the easiest crafts to make, and it can be done with nearly anything for nearly any kind of craft. Mine is specifically centered around the Threads ORT Jar that people often do with cross-stitch, but you can do one for any type of craft you’re involved with that can fit in a jar.

Don’t know what ORT means? We have a Term of the Week for that! Term of the Week: ORT.

The 2013 Christmas Haul

RCart9

It may be March, but it’s never too late to talk abut Christmas presents!

At this point in my life, everyone in my family and my immediate friends circle knows that I cross-stitch and how passionate I am about it. That said, this year was the first year I got cross-stitch presents from family! Not too many, I mostly bought things for myself, but I thought I would share what I did get!

Christmas Present 1Okay, this was less a present from someone else and more a present I bought for myself from work! Stitching is definitely a stress reliever for me so this was so true, and I had to have it! So I bought it and gave it to my mom to give to me as a Christmas present. I haven’t hung it up yet… I need to hang up a lot of things! Need more space on my walls, lol.

Christmas Present 2My best friend bought me this very lovely Dimensions piece as a Christmas present! It’s a massive project and I’m not sure when I’ll ever get around to doing it, but I love the flowers and it’ll look fabulous when it’s finished!

Christmas Present 3My cousin’s family bought this for me, and it’s very cute! I like the fact that it has a frog on it! It looks rather complex to be a beginner’s piece, but I’m sure it won’t be hard to stitch. Anyone who loves frogs or hates them (because of frogging) should get this to do for themselves!
