Friday Finishes #16: Snoozing Kitty
Today’s Friday Finishes is a cute one, and is personally one of my favorites! It’s also the last in our Mini Kits Series before we start over with new mini kits.
Name of Piece: Item #021-1389 Dreaming Kitty (Snoozing Kitty)
Designed by: These kits never say…
Distributed as a kit by Janlynn Company, under their Design for the Needle series.
Kit Contains: 18-count aida fabric, 6-strand embroidery floss, frame, self-adhesive mounting board, needle, graph, & instructions.
Finished Size: 2.5 inches round
The Story: This kitten is so adorable! My three favorite animals are penguins, bears, and cats. I had to have this, and it ended up being the last kit I bought for the day, hence making it the end of my first Mini Kits Series. I also saved ‘the best for last’ in a sense because I waited to stitch this until the end. I think I vaguely remember buying most of these kits with the intent to give them away as gifts, but in the end I think only one (Lyrical Music) ended up going as a gift and I kept the rest.
Time To Complete: Around 4 days.
Review: I have no complaints on this kit! It was very easy to stitch. I like the blanket design the kitten sleeping on, I like the kitten itself… the only thing I changed on the design itself was the little bubbles leading up into the thought bubbles. I changed those to back-stitched squares instead of ordinary crosses because I didn’t like the look of the cross and the boxes look much better.
Of course, the biggest problem I had was the framing. I don’t know what went wrong. Somehow, while cutting out the circle to put on the backing, I cut off too much fabric. When I went to put the backing in the frame, you could still see the sticky part of the backing! I freaked out, I thought I damaged the piece and I wasn’t going to be able to repair it. But I cut off a small section from the remains and put it on there.
Can you see it? It looks in the picture like it’s a dent at the very bottom of the piece, but it’s actually where I fit the extra piece of fabric to cover the hole. I think I did an okay job, it doesn’t look as if I had to fix anything.
Final Verdict: I love this finish so much! It’s so cute! I would stitch it again if I could. It’s one of my favorite mini designs.
Have you done this kit before? How did it go for you? How did you like it, or not like it, as the case may be? Leave a comment below or head on over to our Facebook page and tell us how it went!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.
