Little Princess: Part 1, Part 2
I actually finished this piece on January 2nd of this year, but it’s taken me awhile to get the pictures all together. I need a better picture organizing system. So here is the last Progress Report for the Little Princess piece!
Here is where we left off last time:
I finished off all of the stitching on the crown first before I moved on to the metallic gold thread and the backstitch:
I did all of the backstitch on the ordinary colors first.
Then it was time for the metallic gold thread. Last time I tried to use metallic thread on my Bookmark as a border, it went horribly. I swore I wouldn’t use metallics again. But the piece called for it, so I thought I’d give it a shot. I’m more experienced now than the last time I tried to use it.
I did all of the required crosses first, just to make sure the actual stitching was out of the way. Then I took the plunge on the backstitch by working the bottom half of the crown:
It really wasn’t too terribly bad to work with. Maybe it was because I expected it to go horribly so I was extra cautious with it the whole time. I had a few issues with tangles but it went all right, overall!
I finished the rest of the metallic backstitch, then added the letters and the two French knots, which I’ve never had any problems doing. And voila! A finish!
And that is that! All it needs now is a wash and an iron before it goes into the frame the kit came with. The next time you see this piece will be on Friday Finishes!
Me personally, looking at the finished piece now, I would have used the metallic gold on more than just the outline. The matching colors on the backstitch of the jewels inside the crown don’t really make them pop like the borders do. I feel like it drags the eye away from the center. I had plenty of metallic gold thread left over. Maybe just me? Too late to do anything about it now, just food for thought for others!

Progress Report is an update on all my stitching habits, from the kits to the stitching to the finishing process and more! Right now I am featuring one of my cat-themed projects and several of the mini kits I’m currently working on, along with other pieces I like to pull out and work on at random.
By the way – to keep up on Little Thread Crafts stitching news and get pictures, updates, and more that don’t appear on the blog until much later, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! I would greatly appreciate it!
