Artiste’s Snail: Part 1

Months and months and months after the first was posted, here is the finale of my progress on the Artiste’s Snail piece!

All told, this piece took about a week to finish in total stitching time. In total amount of elapsed time from when I opened it to when I finished it, it was… about a year. I had the snail in my WIP pile for a very long time.

Anyway, here is where we left off:

I am so close to being 100% done with the blue! Just the green and yellow and backstitch left!

I was able to knock out the last of the blue and finish the small yellow squares:

Then I was able to finish the green column on the left and also completely stitch the column on the right:

As you can see, I originally stitched it one too high...

Then I stitched the top row:

Top row done!

And here it is, with all the stitching done:

All the stitching done! Just the backstitch to go.

There was barely any backstitch on this piece (even though it would make the leaves pop a bit more), so I made quick work of it:

All done! :)

All done! 🙂

And there we go! After a very long time, the snail is done. All it needs now is washed and framed… which I haven’t done yet. I usually save all my washing to do at once when I have a large pile to do. It will be sometime soon! Then we can see the finished piece in all its glory.

Have you done this piece before? How well did it go for you?
