Friday Finishes #22: Dragonfly
We are straight back to the Mini Kits with today’s Friday Finishes! I made a mistake with this one with the backstitch… and I framed it a little different from the cover model.
Name of Piece: #998-7011 Dragonfly
Designed by: Kooler Design Studio
Distributed as a kit by Janlynn Corporation under their Ready, Set, Stitch! Janlynn needlecraft series.
Kit Contains: 18 ct. Aida fabric, 6-strand cotton floss, frame, self-adhesive mounting board, needle, graph, and instructions.
Finished Size: 2.5 inches round
The Story: This is yet again a part of my many Mini Kits collections. I mean I’ve got three drawers in a plastic container’s worth of mini kits… I’ve got so many to do! I didn’t have much of a reason to pick this one over all the others… I liked the colors on the wings, and the little flight trail the dragonfly has. So I picked it up to stitch!
Time To Complete: Gosh, I don’t remember… a few hours, at most.
Review: I recall this being a VERY fast stitch. It couldn’t have taken more than an hour at most to stitch it all, and I’m fairly sure I stitched it all in one sitting, too. I did make a little mistake with the backstitch, though. All I had left was the antenna on the dragonfly and I was too lazy to do one antenna, finish the thread, cut it, and move on to the next antenna. I did a stitching no-no of carrying my thread more than three stitches over to the next side to do the antenna. And if you look closely at the finished piece you can see the faint black thread under the white Aida. Oops! Teaches me not to be lazy again.
It was hard to keep the whole thing visible in the frame. I barely got it to fit without cutting off the bottom of the tail and the first of flight trail. The kit had this piece framed in the opposite direction of how I framed it. I think it makes mine a little more unique.
Final Verdict: If you like dragonflies, mini kits, or quick projects, this is a project for you!
Have you done this kit before? How did it go for you? How did you like it, or not like it, as the case may be? Leave a comment below or head on over to our Facebook page and tell us how it went!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.
By the way – to keep up on Little Thread Crafts stitching news and get pictures, updates, and more that don’t appear on the blog until much later, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! I would greatly appreciate it!
