The Story: I picked up this kit at Hobby Lobby I think… as soon as I saw it I had to have it. I like stitching animals, especially cats, and this one was of a tuxedo kitten. A couple years ago my family and I rescued a little black and white kitten from the shelter. I found her because of the white mustache she had on her face, and the shelter had called her “Got Milk.”

We ended up adopting her and naming her Shyloh. She had a health condition, some defect in her heart that causes blood clots, and we almost lost her last year… she’s still not completely stable on her feet like she used to be. But! she’s healthy and thriving now.

So when I found this kit, I had to do it! It doesn’t look completely like ours but it was close enough for me.

Time To Complete: Around a week or so. I stitched on it between classes at college.

Review: The kit was quick and easy to do. I had some trouble in the beginning because the chart starts in the middle surrounded by the white, so I had to stitch white on white for awhile and I hate doing that. It’s just so hard for me to see the white stitching on white aida. But, I pushed through and it was smooth sailing from there. There was an awful lot of backstitch, and I wondered whether or not I should leave off all the extra lines meant to show the fur. A lot of the colors you couldn’t even see, they were light grey on white, and I didn’t know if I liked the look of them, but in the end I left them on.

Final Verdict: If you like quick projects but with plenty of backstitch details and cats, then this is the project for you! I personally really enjoyed it, and so did my mom. I ended up giving it to her and it’s hanging in the hall between the dining room and the living room. 🙂

Have you done this kit before? How did it go for you? How did you like it, or not like it, as the case may be?  Leave a comment below or head on over to our Facebook page and tell us how it went!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.
