Friday Finishes #36: I Luvdisc You

Today’s Finish!

Today’s Friday Finish is a romantic Pokemon cross-stitch I made for my boyfriend for Christmas a few years back! The Pokemon are called Luvdisc, hence the pun!

Chart Contains: Colored chart, color key, finished sizing

Finished Size: 2.5 in by 3 in, stitched on 18 ct aida fabric

The Story: Back when I started this chart, I used to follow Birdie Stitching on all the social media she was on. I found her on DeviantART and followed as she made a website for her charts. I found this chart in particular and fell in love! Pokemon is a video game franchise my boyfriend and I share, so I decided to stitch this piece for him.

You can follow along on the progress on this piece below:

Time To Complete: Total stitch time was about 7 hours or so. This took several sittings to complete because I kept picking it up and putting it back down. (I’m a slow stitcher.)

Review: I did not know how to feel about the colors in this piece when I started stitching it. I did something different than how I normally stitch and did all the outlining and smaller colors first, so what I was left with before I started filling in the main colors made the Luvdiscs look like clowns. However I pushed through and finished it out and was very happy with how all the colors looked together!

The only adjustment I made to the chart was the lettering. I did not like the lowercase letters as they were on the chart, I wanted them to be more uppercase block letters. So I used a pen and scribbled in the boxes on the chart and made my own lettering for it!

Final Verdict: I really love how this piece turned out in the end. A fun and cute stitch! If you love Pokemon and you love cross-stitch, make sure you check out Birdie Stitching and all her free Pokemon charts!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.
