Friday Finishes #23: Love

The finished piece!

Today’s Friday Finish!

I’ve wanted to do this kit since I bought it, but I was actually rather disappointed with it. I’ve come to realize I don’t really like NeedleMagic Inc. kits that much!

Name of Piece: Item 4109 Love

Designed by: There is no designer listed on the kit.

Distributed as a kit by NeedleMagic, Inc. under their Stitch ‘N Frame series.

Kit Contains: 14 ct. Aida fabric, yarn, needle, graph, frame, self-adhesive mounting board, and easy to follow instructions.

Finished Size:  I’m going to guess 3 in. by 3 in. because the kit only says “cover model shown as actual size.”

The Story: I’m all about that famous “Love” image, and I like a romance theme with stitching in general. So when I found this mini-kit, I had to do it! I’m pretty sure I set everything else I was stitching at the time aside just so I could stitch this. It was block colors, no fractionals, and no backstitch. What’s not to love, quite literally?

Time To Complete: Definitely only took an hour or so. It was very fast.

Review: This is the same kit maker as the Dolphin piece I did for my sister, and I had the same problems with this kit as I did with the Dolphin kit. I think the problem comes from the fact that NeedleMagic says on the kit that they include yarn. Not embroidery floss, they specifically say yarn. And the thread that comes with this kit is the problem I have with it. I hated the thread! It was hard to work with and it made the finished product look bad, in my opinion. If I had to do the kit over I would definitely throw out the thread and take the time to find DMC colors that match and use those instead.

Other than the low-quality thread, though, the chart was fun to stitch! I’d do it again! Just not with the included thread.

Final Verdict: I recommend that if you do this kit, get your own threads for it. The threads were the worst part of this kit but other than that, it was great fun and it’s an extremely easy stitch! A good kit to start out with if you’ve never stitched before. You’ll get good practice with the actual stitching, which helps when you move on to fractional stitches and backstitch!

Have you done this kit before? How did it go for you? How did you like it, or not like it, as the case may be?  Leave a comment below or head on over to our Facebook page and tell us how it went!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.

By the way – to keep up on Little Thread Crafts stitching news and get pictures, updates, and more that don’t appear on the blog until much later, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! I would greatly appreciate it!
