Native Wolf Dream Catcher: Part 1

———————————————

Oh man, it’s been quite a while since I did an update on my Native Wolf Dream Catcher piece! (Is it Dream Catcher or Dreamcatcher? Wikipedia tells me it can be either way, but my spellcheck gets upset when it’s all one word. I prefer it with a space anyway.)

After all the stitching I did initially on the piece in an attempt to get it done as fast as possible, I put it aside (as I do with all my pieces eventually) and have barely picked it up since. This is all the progress I’ve made in the last two years or so! Maybe posting my progress will get me in the mood to stitch on it again and I’ll finally finished it.

So here is where we left off last time:

Months and months and months after the first was posted, here is the finale of my progress on the Artiste’s Snail piece!

All told, this piece took about a week to finish in total stitching time. In total amount of elapsed time from when I opened it to when I finished it, it was… about a year. I had the snail in my WIP pile for a very long time.

Anyway, here is where we left off:

Christmas 2015 – Projects Update!

Christmas 2015 Projects

It is December 13th, and we are now 12 days from Christmas! On November 2nd I posted an article called Planning For Christmas, where I went over the 14 Christmas projects I organized as gifts for this year. I started very late because I didn’t actually plan on making any Christmas gifts this year. My usual track record is to finish less than half the Christmas presents I start out making.

So! Now that we are 12 days from Christmas, where am I at on my progress?

This is what I started with:

My Christmas projects! Wish me luck!

My Christmas projects! Wish me luck!

  1. Owl By Janlynn
  2. Mothers Are Special by Janlynn
  3. Rock The ‘Stache by Bucilla
  4. Tractor by Janlynn
  5. Home Is Where Your Mom Is by Bucilla
  6. Owl Pillowcases by Janlynn
  7. Home Sweet Home Code by Happy Stitch
  8. HTML Welcome Sign By Happy Stitch
  9. Stop Hatin, Start Bakin by Daily Cross Stitch
  10. Baby Panda by Daily Cross Stitch
  11. Oh Deer by Daily Cross Stitch
  12. Deer Silhouette by Daily Cross Stitch
  13. Keep Calm And Game On by Daily Cross Stitch
  14. Stark Bookmark by Black Lupin (not pictured)

Wow, what a list! Considering last year I decided to stitch four projects and only finished two, this was quite an undertaking! Especially because I started so late. I fully expected that I wouldn’t finish half the list, so I planned two projects for each person I decided to make gifts for; if I could finish one for each, I would be happy.

Here is the list so far!

  1. Owl By Janlynn: Finished!
  2. Mothers Are Special by Janlynn: Finished!
  3. Rock The ‘Stache by Bucilla: Finished!
  4. Tractor by Janlynn: Finished!
  5. Home Is Where Your Mom Is by Bucilla: Started!
  6. Owl Pillowcases by Janlynn: Abandoned πŸ™
  7. Home Sweet Home Code by Happy Stitch: Finished!
  8. – 14. Not Started

So I’ve finished 5 of the 14 projects as of today. I have #6 and #7 started – except I gave up on the pillowcases again this year. Stamped cross stitch just takes me too long, and I’ll run out of steam and not start any of the others unless I give it up and move on. I have projects #8 and #9 kitted up and ready to start, but I haven’t started them, nor any of the others on the list.

This is my finished pile, to be washed and framed:

This includes non-Christmas projects as well, I have a lot that need washed and frame!

Aaaand this is my pile of Christmas projects that I still need to finish:

It's a big pile...

It’s a big pile…

12 days to Christmas and I have 8 projects left to finish by December 20th, at the very latest. I doubt I can do it. But hey, I got a lot more done than I’ve gotten done in years past, so even if I don’t finish them all, I’m proud of myself! But wish me luck anyway, I’ll need it if I want to finish.

Here is the finale on the Families Photo Album piece! It was a bit of a trial… I should have done 18 count instead of 16 count to get the size I wanted, but I didn’t realize I miscalculated until it was too late. I made due with what I had, and I think it turned out all right, all things considered.

I was able to complete this piece in time for Christmas… it was all wrapped and everything! But then I didn’t actually see the recipient at all. Even now months later we haven’t seen each other! I may need to just send it in the mail so he’ll get it…

Anyway, here is some more of the progress on this piece!

I took a break from the Little Princess to stitch on the Families Are Forever chart for the photo album.

So here is where we left off last time:

Ooh, look how little space there is.

Ooh, look how little space there is.

It’s time to start moving left to right, now that I’ve gone as far up and down as I can. I know the piece won’t fit completely but it’s good to have the border at least set so I can make sure. However, I’m trying to be really careful about carrying the black thread too far, so I ended up moving down instead of keeping right.

So here’s where I ended off:

The letters are slowly coming together.

The letters are slowly coming together.

Currently I’ve got a fully finished “i” and “r”. The “e”s are both only half finished because I don’t want to carry the black thread through the back and I haven’t stopped the thread to do those parts. Soon they will be all filled out! I’m making decent progress, plenty of time to finish by Christmas.

Progress Report is an update on all my stitching habits, from the kits to the stitching to the finishing process and more! Right now I am featuring one of my cat-themed projects and several of the mini kits I’m currently working on, along with other pieces I like to pull out and work on at random.

Progress Report: Families Photo Album, Part 1

Today’s article is late because I spent today stitching and wanted that to be today’s upload!

This is the project I talked about in yesterday’s article, How Many Days Until Christmas?!

I bought this photo album several months ago with the intent to give it to my grandfather for Christmas. My grandmother, who passed away two years ago from cancer, used to be an avid photographer. She always loved photos. I worked with him over the summer to catalog some of her older photos, as their photo albums were falling apart. So I decided to buy him a new album as a Christmas present.
