Friday Finishes #28: Christmas Teddy Bear

Today’s Friday Finish!

And just as quickly as it begun, it ends. That’s what I get for not stitching very many Christmas presents! Today’s Friday Finishes is the Christmas teddy bear I stitched for my nephew.

The Story: For my nephew’s first Christmas, I stitched him the Stuffed Lion that I wrote a Friday Finishes on last year. For his second Christmas, I decided to stitch him another plushie. He loved his first one and he was a little older, so I thought he would play more with this second one. I found the plushie and picked out one of the charts to use. I was even able to pencil in his nickname. Then I gathered the thread and set to work!

You can read the Progress Report and all the details on the project here: Progress Report: Christmas Teddy Bear, Start to Finish

Time To Complete: This was a very fast project. I’d say an hour at most, in one sitting.

Review: The only problem I foresee anyone having with stitching the bib is that the bib comes attached to the stuffed animal. You’ve got to stitch on the bib while holding a stuffed animal in your lap and trying to stitch on only the bib. I can’t tell you how many times I ended up poking through the bear’s belly while making a stitch, or into the bottom of his mouth when I was coming up from the other side. It’s a tight space, but only a small hurdle to overcome. The fact that designs are included is also nice, as I had a hard time finding a design I liked that was small enough to fit in the bib’s area when I stitched the Stuffed Lion.

The finished piece!

Final Verdict: My nephew loved his bear. The last time I was at his parents’ house he had his teddy bears – this one included – all lined up on the couch. This is definitely a great gift for children that can be used as a toy or as a keepsake!

Have you done this kit before? How did it go for you? How did you like it, or not like it, as the case may be?  Leave a comment below or head on over to our Facebook page and tell us how it went!

Friday Finishes is a segment where I catalog and review all the cross-stitch pieces I have ever completed. Some of the pieces I no longer have information on, or I don’t have pictures because I gave away the piece as a gift and forgot to take a picture, but I’ll do my best to be as informative as possible! Check back on Fridays for more.

By the way – to keep up on Little Thread Crafts stitching news and get pictures, updates, and more that don’t appear on the blog until much later, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! I would greatly appreciate it!
