30 Day Project – Day 2 – A Good Start

Well… on the one hand, the stitching on this chart has gone well, from the thirty or so stitches I’ve done so far. On the other hand, the fact that these threads came unsorted was a total nightmare.

Here is a picture of how the threads all came:

Here we go!

As I sat down to make my first stitches, I very quickly realized a majority of these threads are all very close shades to one another. Like four shades of gold, two shades of yellow, two shade of brown that look like the golds and yellows… I normally don’t separate my threads out by colors. Usually even if the project is pretty big I can leave them in one pile like this and just pick out the colors as I need them. But with that many color shades all being one or two shades off from each other? Yeah, I had to separate them.

So I spent about half an hour altogether with the bundle of threads under my craft light as I sorted them. Once again the chart proved to be inadequate as the color key didn’t tell me how many of each strand I was supposed to have (some charts say, some don’t, but most do) so it was hard to say whether I got the colors right, in the end. If I get them wrong by a shade it won’t be that big of a deal. This isn’t meant to be a gift or anything.

My threads all separated into color bundles.

Once the necessary deed was done, I started on the actual stitching. The middle of the chart fell in a blank area, of course, so I had to count out from the middle to get to my starting point, which was the sleeve on the bear’s dress, and happened to be one of the pinks. I managed all of that color in a small area and then decided to make a stop for the night. I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep the last few days and need to head to bed so I can get more things done in the mornings!

So here was the progress for the day:

You can already see the sleeve on the dress taking shape, which is pretty neat!

Progress Report is an update on all my stitching habits, from the kits to the stitching to the finishing process and more! Right now I am featuring one of my cat-themed projects and several of the mini kits I’m currently working on, along with other pieces I like to pull out and work on at random.

By the way – to keep up on Little Thread Crafts stitching news and get pictures, updates, and more that don’t appear on the blog until much later, follow me on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! I would greatly appreciate it!
